Harpal Singh


Mr Singh is one of the Founders and Chairman Trustee of the Chronic Care foundation. Mr Singh is the Non Executive Chairman of Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd. and Former Chairman of Fortis Healthcare Ltd. He is Chairman of Fortis Financial Services and is a member of the Board of the Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre Ltd. and of Religare Enterprises.

Mr. Singh is also Chairman of Impact Projects Ltd. and Impact Agencies Ltd. Starting with the TATA Administrative Service, he has had a diverse and wide-ranging experience of over 33 years in the Corporate Sector. He has held senior positions in TATA’s, Hindustan Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra and Shaw Wallace.

Mr Singh is and has been involved with many premier Educational Institutions at the Board Level which include The Doon School, The Shriram School, The Scindia School (Gwalior), Yadavindra Public School (Patiala & Mohali) and is a Trustee of the Salwan Educational Trust (which manages 11 schools). He is also Chairman of The Salwan Public School and is a Member of the Senate of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, Punjab. He was honorary treasurer of the Indian Public Schools Society for 6 years. From time to time, Mr Singh has been a member of several Government Committees and is presently Member of the Punjab Chief Minister’s Advisory Committee on Industrial Growth and Development of Relevant Infrastructure. He is also a Member of the CII National Committee on Healthcare and CII National Committee on Primary and Secondary Education and past Chairman of CII Punjab State Council. He was a Member of the National Association of Real Estate Development and was its treasurer.

Mr Singh is a Member of the India-UK Round Table and is an invitee speaker in many fora. He has chaired the 2nd and 3rd India Health Summit in New Delhi and was invited to speak at the Royal Institute of Great Britain on Integrating Global Healthcare. As a member of the US – India Strategic Dialogue in December 2005, he presented a strategic opportunity position for collaboration between the US and Indian Healthcare Systems. He is an alumnus of The Doon School and is an (Hons.) Graduate in Economics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi. He has a B.S. in Economics and a Master’s in Public Affairs from the California State University at Hayward (C.S.C.H.), California, U.S.A.


Noshir Dadrawala


Noshir Dadrawala is the Executive Secretary of the Centre for Advancement of Philanthropy and a co-founder and trustee of Chronic Care Foundation. Mr. Dadrawala has written widely on issues regarding charitable organisations and is internationally known in the study of philanthropy through being on committees as well as having presented research papers on the subject.

He regularly conducts seminars, conferences and training programmes for voluntary organizations in India, is a guest lecturer at the N.M. Institute of Management Studies, a correspondent and regularly contributor for newspapers and magazines. He also lectures and is an authority on the Parsi community. He is a trustee of India Sponsorship Committee, The Polson Charity Trust, The P.D. Chinoy Memorial Trust , The Zarathushti Youth Foundation, Resource Alliance, and is also a member of the Governing Council of the Asia Pacific Philanthropy Consortium, The Helen Keller Institute for the Deaf and Deaf-Blind, The J.D. Bharda Education Society and the Committee on Social Development and Community Affairs of the Confederation of Indian Industries


Dr. Narayan Hegde


Narayan Hegde studied MSc. Agri (Horticulture) from G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, India, MS (Horticulture) from the University of Hawaii, PhD (Economics) from Pune University, Post Graduate Programme in Management of Agriculture from the Indian Institute of Management—Ahmedabad, and has served with a reputed nonprofit organization, BAIF Development Research Foundation in India, since 1974. He assumed the responsibility of Managing Trustee and President of BAIF in 1993 and served till 2009.

During his tenure, BAIF recorded a ten-fold expansion reaching out to 4 million farmers in fifteen states in the country. While continuing as Principal Adviser and Trustee, BAIF, he is also serving as Chairman, Children’s Future India, Managing Trustee, Nature Cure Ashram, Trustee, Global Alliance for Livestock Veterinary Medicines, India800 Foundation, UK, MS Swaminathan Research Foundation, and several other nonprofit organizations involved in sustainable development. He has served as Member of the Scientific Advisory Committee to the Cabinet, Government of India and Working Group on Livestock, Environment, and Forestry and Agricultural Extension for IX to XII Five Year

Plans of the Government of India. He has also served on various committees of the Ministry of Forests and Environment, Agriculture, Rural Development, Science and Technology. He has published 200 technical and policy papers. Recognized as one of the Ninety Illustrious Alumni over the ninety Years of the University of Hawaii, Dr. Hegde has written books including a series of books on nature, of which, “Mother Nature,” received Best Children’s Literature Award from the Government of India. BAIF, established in 1967, is a Gandhian organization, committed to sustainable livelihood of the rural poor through conservation and development of natural resources.

Ecohousing: He has been instrumental for Launching India’s first ecohousing certification programme for promoting environmentally sustainable urban housing. The Programme was evolved with two year long multi-stakeholder consultations, the key players being International Institute for Energy Conservation (IIEC), The Energy research Institute (TERI), Rachana Sansad, several municipal corporations, Promoters and Developers Associations, Architects Associations etc. The initiative is leading to set up Sustainable Building Technology Center.

He holds a Masters degree in Botany and Ph.D. in Forest Ecology from University of Pune. Dr. Rajendra was instrumental in making Indian Universities’ Technology Database that showcases some of the emerging technologies and potential of researchers from Indian Universities. This database was made for University Grants Commission, Govt. of India and supported by United Nations’ Asian and Pacific Center for Transfer of Technology (APCTT). Dr. Rajendra is a trainer in Entrepreneurship and mentor for several start-up companies and works closely with Department of Science and Technology with its Technology Business Incubation, skill training and Innovation management programmes. He is well-known Intellectual Property (IP) and Technology Transfer advisor and has been conducting International trainers’ training programmes in IP and Technology Transfer for last three years jointly with Michigan State University, US Embassy and APCTT.


Sanjiv Verma


Sanjiv Verma is an independent consultant and advisor with specific interests in Strategic positioning and planning, as well as people engagement and skill enhancement. Over a 37 year career spanning manufacturing, marketing and general management with leading multi-nationals, he has gained knowledge and experience of a diverse range of businesses. The last 15 years also included Asia leadership positions, relating to Pharmaceuticals, Medical Devices and Disposables associated with chronic disease and life threatening conditions. At present he is an independent Director on company Boards and advisor to an infrastructure JV.

Prior to his retirement from full time working end March 2008, he was General Manager of Baxter Healthcare Corp., India and South East Asia. Baxter is a global, diversified healthcare company that assists medical professionals in delivery of critical therapies to patients with life threatening conditions. Prior to this, he headed a number of businesses of ICI in India, including Synthetic Fibers, Pharmaceuticals, Agrochemicals, and Polyurethanes; during his career with that company over 1971-1996. He has led acquisitions as well as divestments, and provided leadership to global multi-disciplinary projects on a number of occasions.
